..."Our project was approached on, you could say, a long term strategy. Before undertaking any decorating or selection of furniture, we were undertaking improvements such as electrics, plumbing & general building works.

One general builder would not take on our job without being told where each & every detail was to be! But employing an architect also wasn’t the answer.

We decided to approach the job from a different front: we intend to stay in our property for a long time & the emphasis is to make it a home that is functional, whilst beautiful, & also enhances some of its uniqueness & features that remain since its construction in 1905.

Working with Lorraine Howell from Renascent Design proved the best way forward for us as we started by discussing finishings & how we wanted each room to look & perform for us & the family. Using this as a starting point enabled us to design the type of radiators & positioning of plumbing, where the lighting would go & how switch configurations would work. This all meant that we could get trades under way!

We now have all the mucky works complete, new doors, architraves, coving & all sockets & lamp circuits are in place etc...

The bedroom is all complete, it’s beautiful, relaxed & is better than the best 5* hotel suite & the rest is ready to drive on with in the not too distant future.

It has been great working with Lorraine  - she has also doubled as an excellent marriage intermediary by diplomatically helping us reach a well designed, balanced decision !..."
